Basking #507

The rose tree-bush beside the front door blooms in the spring. . . but today, I came home to one single pink rose - curious.

Local Betty has a great write up about planning one's route for the Hingham Arts Walk - here's a little excerpt, just in case you were wondering about it being kid friendly - oh, it is!

"Kids with you? Don't let that change your plans too much. Do go to the Community Center where you'll find artisans and craftspeople with kid-inspiring 'art to touch' like woodcrafts and mosaics. The South Shore Arts Center is hosting Allison Collins in an art quilt hands-on project. Let them make a square and be part of art-in-progress. While you immerse them in creativity, stop into shops in the Square to see the work of Susan Ahearn, Gary Nisbet,Franny Andahazy and Tina Watson [to name just a few more] right there. Easy Peasy.

See kids art on display. Brigham's, Carolann's and The Old Ship Meeting House will have student art exhibits to inspire; they're sure to recognize the work of a few friends and neighbors. The new Skate Shop on North Street will feature the art of talented students at Hingham High School too.

Find hands-on activities. At the Old Ship Church, grab a viewfinder and sketch a view of America's only surviving colonial meetinghouse. Enter the contest- your child's sketch [and maybe yours!] could be selected to be the cover of an Old Ship notecard. "
